India has increased the development assistance allocated to Nepal in its upcoming fiscal year budget. Under India’s “Neighborhood First” policy, the grant for Nepal has reached INR 8,000 million, which is INR 1,000 million higher than last year.
Analysts say the increase in aid is expected to strengthen India–Nepal cooperation in infrastructure development, border area projects, and social sector initiatives.
Prioritizing regional relations, India has also raised assistance for Bhutan, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan. This move is seen as a sign of the continued India–Nepal development partnership.
